Hi Zen Den readers! This is Christina here, I've come to join the Zen Den Team and I'd like to introduce myself. My conscious yogic path started 4 years ago, in 2013. I was sitting in the doctors office and my doctor tells me, you need to start doing yoga and meditation if you would like to become a person again. Interesting, I thought to myself. I better try that then. Growing up I was a spiritual kid, without knowing it. I prayed, saw energy, played with energy fields and trusted the universe. I can remember being 11, 12, years old and already then having the urge to do yoga. My mom and I decided to do it together, but it turns out, that was not what our karma was planning for us, so we never did get around to doing it back then. We talked about it now and again, but as you know, talking is one thing and taking action is another. The years passed, and along side school I lost track of my spirituality and got more wrapped up in achieving, proving my self worth and making sure everyone else was doing well.


So back to 2013. I tend to either "do things" or "not do things," so when I start something I really start it. I took awhile, and then one day I decided to give meditation a proper shot. For a full month I decided I would meditate 45 minutes twice daily, regardless of what happened in life. After a month I was astounded, I couldn't believe that one could feel this good. I constantly felt like I was floating. Decisions were clear and easy, I felt a strong intuition and I was feeling more energized. So said and done, I continued. A few weeks later I started practicing yoga asanas and felt like I had arrived home. A space to just be me, with a healthy and balanced drive to develop! This was so much better rather than the negative and demanding pressure I had been putting on myself all these years, which is what got me to the doctors office to begin with. I could physically feel the effects of the poses, not yet knowing that's what they were for.

Apparently this showed because my teachers picked up on my instant love for yoga and took me under their wings. After more practice and training, I started teaching yoga in 2014, as I wanted to give to others what I had been so blessed to receive. I loved it, seeing the students faces and their transformations was so rewarding. Though as you all know, life happens, and in 2015 I had to pull back on teaching. I realized that I needed to find the balance between giving and receiving, as I was finding myself uninspired and uncentered. I took a pause from teaching to focus on my own practice, as I believe that it is important to practice what you preach. I cannot teach balance if I myself am unbalanced. 2016 was a year with a lot of obstacles, and what kept me centered was the yoga. I was ready to take up teaching again, and I went to Zen Den Yoga School. Doing an immersion here was such a beautiful experience to me and challenging to say the least. Living so close to other people, doing all that yoga, learning, it really uncovers all the facets of yourself. Since my 200hr teacher training here I have grown so much in my personal practice, as well as in my teaching practice. I am blessed to be back at the school now as support team and sharing inspiration, as well as to grow as a student and teacher. I look forward to meeting you all and sharing all I can with you.

In this journey I regret nothing, accepting that all is part of bringing me to where I am today. From me to you - the love song to ourselves, remembering that we are all and all is one. Om Namah Shivaya.

This is a great question for all the yogis thinking by simply taking some yoga classes or starting to meditate that everything will miraculously fall into place. As far as most of us know, a yogi lifestyle gives you access to being pretty spiritual, and this is a good thing. Meditating each day, and twisting our bodies into all kinds of demonstrations of enviable feats of flexibility means that you've achieved this status. That's all partially true. These things certainly influence you in a positive way, however, true growth and balance is not achieved without cultivating some consciousness around your day to day choices.
